St. John the Baptist

The Graveyard Index Project

Over the last 145 years almost 2000 local folk have been laid to rest in the pretty churchyard that surrounds our parish church of St. John the Baptist. Today, the churchyard is still an oasis of tranquility in the centre of our busy metropolis.
What is perhaps a little surprising is that - until now - documentation of the graveyard has been very fragmented. This has now been corrected...
Church member David Godden, and John Harris of the Moordown Local History Society, have put a tremendous amount of effort into collecting and documenting information about all the graves. David's indexed data and John's photographs have been combined into a collection of 'searchable' online documents, copies of which are attached to this page.
These documents should make it much easier for those searching for details about a particular grave, as well as providing a long term updateable archive for future generations. Our thanks to both of them...
